Advice
Studying the best players and watching video is useful, I've done my fair share. But once you have the fundamentals down it will often be better to do what feels comfortable to you. I've also found that for the most part aggressive putting pays off in disc golf.

Any Advice:
Ladies get out there and start throwing some plastic. There is nothing better than out driving the guys!
** strongly recommend that you force yourself to go out and play a round with your midrange and putters only.  It really helps you learn your short game, and it will amaze you at what you can do with just a few discs, it helps you learn shots, and when you can “disc down.”  I used to hate my Roc, now I love it, and can throw it better and more accurate than any of my drivers.  It was one of the most valuable things I have done for myself as a player.

Find someone to play catch with… get multiple molds of the same disc and throw the same shot over and over ‘til you master it, then your buddy can throw them back and do it again until you got it! I do this with an awesome local pro, Chris Sprague, when I am feeling that I need a tune up on my short game. Another thing Chris did for me was to video tape me driving. I got to see my mechanics, what was good, and what I needed to work on. Turns out I was driving very well in the video, and I would watch it every so often for motivation!
Practice Putting… it’s so important, even just 15 mins a day can drastically improve your game. Think of something that you do during your day that’s a waste of time… for me it could be computing, or napping, If I gave up 15 mins of this everyday and devoted it to putting, there is no telling how good I could be! I need to start doing this again!!!
Read Bob Rotella’s Life is not a Game of Perfect: It helped a lot with my mental game!
Lastly, surround yourself with great players!  Pick their brains, ask them why they threw that shot, or what line where they looking at off the tee. Ask questions, try to imitate their game, their lines.  Play UP!  I played up most of my 2nd year and improved my rating by over 60 points!  Don’t think of it as donating, think of it as getting lessons from the pros!

Favorite thing about Disc Golf: I love that I have met people from all over the country, and that I consider them good friends. I love that the game feels so small, yet so big when we are in our disc golf world. I think it is awesome that you can be friends with some of the top players in the world- because this sport is still in its infancy the top pros are just like everyone else! That makes it really cool!  I love touring and getting to meet up with all my buds from around the country. But it’s really hard when I have to face reality and turn around and go home to the real world. Making it thru the work week is always hard, but when Friday comes… it was all worth it.

States so far that I have played in… Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas

Favorite Tournaments:

  • Minnesota Majestic
  • KCWO
  • DSM Challenge
  • River City Rumble
  • Women’s Nationals/AM Worlds
